Vitamin D is best known for its role in aiding calcium absorption in the digestive system and promoting bone formation, but it has many other actions, including supporting balanced immune function and mood. Vitamin D is synthesized by the skin following exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays, but many people don't spend enough time outdoors and become deficient in this essential vitamin. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to numerous health problems, including osteoporosis, rickets, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, cancer, SAD (seasonal affective disorder), chronic pain, and frequent infections.
Older adults and children, those living in northern climates during the winter, and people with chronic illnesses generally need vitamin D supplementation. Vitamin D3 is the most effective form of supplemental vitamin D (a less absorbable form compared to vitamin D2).
AOR's liquid vitamin D3 is sustainably sourced from lichen, a vegan ingredient. It is suspended in a medium-chain triglyceride solution for maximum absorption. It is considered safe for people of all ages (from infants to the elderly), and therefore, up to 1,000 IU can be taken daily.
