Active B Complex utilizes the active form of vitamins B2 (riboflavin-5-phosphate), B6 ​​(pyridoxal-5-phosphate), folate (Metafolin®), and B12 (methylcobalamin), which is more readily absorbed by the body. Metafolin® is a calcium salt of L-methylfolate, the primarily active form of folate in the body. Compared to folic acid, L-methylfolate has significantly higher bioavailability. For example, in healthy women supplemented with an equivalent amount (~400 mcg) of L-methylfolate or folic acid for 24 weeks, folate concentrations in red blood cells were significantly higher in those supplemented with L-methylfolate.
