TKI is a blend of vitamins A and C that contributes to good health. Vitamin C plays important roles in the body, including preventing DNA damage from free radicals and the production of collagen, the main structural protein in connective tissue. Since collagen is also the main protein involved in wound healing, vitamin C deficiency can impair wound healing. Vitamin A contributes to skin health by helping support the protective function of skin cells. It increases the proliferation of mitotic cells in the epidermis, compresses the outer epidermal layer composed of dead cells, and increases the number of glycosaminoglycans, polysaccharides that help moisturize the skin. Since vitamin A contributes to immune function by stimulating the development of immune system cells, vitamin A deficiency reduces the ability of macrophages to ingest and destroy bacteria. The polyphenol and flavonoid content of dandelions is three times greater in the leaves than in the roots.
