Lactium® provides milk protein hydrolyzate to temporarily relieve the symptoms of mild mental and physical stress. Sereniten Plus contains milk protein hydrolyzate, which temporarily helps reduce the symptoms of mild mental and physical stress. Milk protein hydrolyzate, in the form of Lactium®, contains a bioactive decapeptide that has been clinically studied to reduce stress. During times of physical or mental stress, cortisol levels in the body increase as a defense mechanism to protect the body. Although it is an adaptive mechanism, prolonged cortisol secretion can have negative effects on the body's normal functioning, including decreased immune function and poor digestion. In participants undergoing induced stress, a randomized controlled trial found that alpha S1-casein hydrolysate, the active peptide in Lactium, decreased plasma cortisol levels and heart rate compared to a control group. Another study found that alpha S1-casein hydrolysate also improved feelings of well-being and digestion in stressed women. Sereniten Plus also contains L-theanine and vitamin D. Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of good health and the upkeep of bones and teeth.
