Antioxidant Support Targeting Nrf2
Nrf2 is a three-ingredient formula designed to support antioxidant defenses. Cruciferous vegetables from the Brassica family, such as broccoli, have long been recognized for their ability to support antioxidant activity, which helps maintain healthy cells and tissues. They are a source of sulforaphane, a bioactive component that is one of the most potent activators of phase II enzyme function in the liver, protecting tissues from oxidative stress and reactive substances. Sulforaphane and resveratrol promote the activity of NFE2L2 (or Nrf2), a transcription factor that supports the efficient and sustained expression of numerous genes responsible for protection against oxidative stress. Nrf2 also supports the biosynthesis of glutathione, a fundamental component of cellular antioxidant systems. The highest concentration of glutathione is found in the liver, where it provides antioxidant support and protects tissues from reactive species produced during detoxification. This formula contains Setria® glutathione, the only brand of glutathione with research-proven absorption. In a randomized clinical trial, daily consumption of 250 mg of Setria® glutathione increased blood glutathione levels after one, three, and six months. Setria® glutathione also demonstrated support for antioxidant defenses, as indicated by a decrease in the ratio of oxidized to reduced glutathione in whole blood after six months.
