Lactozyme® is a supplemental source of the probiotics Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS-1) and Bifidobacterium bifidum. Each tablet provides 50 million organisms each of Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS-1) and Bifidobacterium bifidum when packaged. Although antibiotics kill bacteria, they do not discriminate between "friendly" and "unfriendly" organisms, so after antibiotic therapy, the balance between good and bad bacteria in the intestines can be disrupted. Probiotics help restore this balance.
