L-theanine is a unique amino acid extracted from tea. L-theanine has also been found to be a biologically active compound that promotes relaxation. It works by reducing cortisol levels during times of stress and regulating neurotransmitter activity in the brain. In a preliminary non-clinical study, an L-theanine solution enhanced the production of alpha waves in the occipital and parietal areas of subjects' brains. These responses are considered an indicator of relaxation. Moreover, they occurred quickly and without causing drowsiness. In two other studies, alpha waves were also detected shortly after L-theanine administration. Additionally, L-theanine mitigates the effects of caffeine on the central nervous system. Adults: Take 1 capsule daily.
