HMF Powder is a combination of four patented human-source probiotic strains that supports intestinal health in adults and children. The intestinal flora, which consists of of more than 400 species of bacteria, can be altered by antibiotic use, aging, and premature or cesarean births. The intestines are essential barriers that selectively allow the assimilation or promote the excretion of harmful compounds, and their function depends on a healthy bacterial balance. The most commonly used probiotics are lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, which are safe for both adults and children. They effectively colonize the intestines. However, once ingested, their numbers decrease or disappear. Probiotics promote the presence of beneficial bacteria by competing with pathogens to colonize the digestive tract. In addition to decreasing the survival of pathogenic bacteria by lowering pH, probiotics strengthen the epithelial barrier. They control permeability by monitoring the integrity of tight junctions, and they prevent pathogenic adherence to epithelial cells by increasing the release of mucins on the intestinal surface. Probiotics promote the growth of bacteria already living in the colon and enhance the growth and survival of probiotic strains taken as supplements.
