Description
HMF Intensive Powder provides four proprietary human-source probiotic strains that support intestinal health in children and adults. Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria are the most commonly used probiotics. They are safe, effectively colonize the intestines and reduce the entry of gut bacteria into the circulation. Probiotics strengthen the epithelial barrier, which allows the absorption of selected compounds and promotes the excretion of harmful substances. Probiotics control intestinal permeability by ensuring the integrity of tight junctions, and prevent pathogenic cell adhesion by increasing the release of mucins on the intestinal surfaces. In addition to their barrier effects, probiotics decrease pathogen survival by increasing the release of antimicrobial peptides from host cells. Although the composition of the microflora in the gut is relatively stable, it can be altered by diet, stress, age and medication. Probiotics promote the presence of beneficial bacteria to maintain the health and normal function of the intestines.
