G.I. Fortify provides significant support for constipation. Psyllium, or Plantago ovata, is a rich source of soluble fiber. Soluble fiber absorbs water to form a gel, increasing stool bulk when taken with an appropriate amount of water; thus, it promotes the formation of larger, softer stools for a healthy bowel movement. As stool moves through the intestine, it integrates and eliminates other waste and toxins present on the intestinal walls. In the colon, soluble fiber is slowly fermented by the intestinal microflora, which also helps increase stool bulk. The fermentation process produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which have a protective effect on healthy colonic cell function, as they represent a very important source of energy for the colon and can regulate colonic transit. Furthermore, SCFAs preserve the acidity of the intestinal environment, creating optimal conditions for a healthy intestinal microflora. Flax is an additional source of soluble fiber that also contains fatty acids and lignans. G.I. Fortify also contains the amino acid L-glutamine and a combination of deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL), aloe, slippery elm, and marshmallow root. In addition, it includes, in equal proportions, three fruit extracts (Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellirica, and Emblica officinalis), which have long been traditionally used in the Ayurvedic remedy Triphala, which literally means "three fruits."
Adults: Add 1 scoop to 240 to 360 ml (8 to 12 oz) of water. Shake, stir, or blend vigorously and drink immediately. Then drink an 8 to 12 oz glass of water. Take once daily, two hours before or after taking other medications or natural health products. Drink extra water when consuming this product.
Medicinal ingredients for 1 scoop [8.9 g]: Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate) 12.6 mg, Psyllium husk (Plantago ovata) 4 g, Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum) 2.25 g, L-Glutamine 1 g, Glycyrrhizinated licorice root extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra) 600 mg (8:1, 4800 mg dry equivalent), Marshmallow root extract (Althaea officinalis) 400 mg (4:1, 1600 mg dry equivalent), slippery elm (Ulmus fulva) inner bark 200 mg, myrobalan chebula (Terminalia chebula) ripe fruit 30 mg, myrobalan bellerique (Terminalia bellirica) ripe fruit 30 mg, Emblic (Emblica officinalis) fruit 30 mg, Aloe vera leaf gel extract 100 mg (standardized to contain 10% polysaccharides) (180:1, 18 g dry equivalent).
