Digest Plus is a complete digestive formula containing natural enzymes and betaine hydrochloride to reduce bloating after high-calorie, high-fat meals. Betaine hydrochloride is commonly used to control stomach acid levels, particularly in people with gastric hypochlorhydria. In a recent clinical trial, a single 1500 mg dose of betaine hydrochloride was able to reduce stomach pH in healthy participants with drug-induced gastric hypochlorhydria caused by the proton pump inhibitor rabeprazole. Within 30 minutes of ingesting betaine hydrochloride, participants' average stomach pH was drastically reduced, from approximately 5.2 to approximately 0.6.
