Col-Sterol is a plant sterol ester blend that helps reduce overall cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels. Plant sterols are structurally similar to cholesterol, but their side chain groups differ. Plant sterol intake leads to a continuous cycle of reduced dietary cholesterol absorption, cholesterol utilization, increased bile acid synthesis, reduced bile acid reabsorption, and increased cholesterol excretion in the feces. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, daily supplementation with 1.3 g of sterol esters for four weeks reduced total cholesterol and VLDL cholesterol levels by approximately 5% and 4%, respectively, in 16 adults with hypercholesterolemia.
Adults: Take 1 capsule 2 times daily with meals or as directed by your healthcare professional.
