Biotone EFA is an effective blend of lecithin-derived free plant sterols, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants that promotes optimal health. Free-form plant sterols affect cholesterol absorption in the intestine. They displace dietary cholesterol into micelles, resulting in increased cholesterol excretion in the feces and reduced serum cholesterol levels. In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving 66 adults with hypercholesterolemia, daily supplementation with 0.3 to 0.5 g of plant sterol esters significantly reduced LDL cholesterol levels, depending on the dose administered, over a four-week period. Antioxidants promote good health by scavenging free radicals to prevent oxidative damage.
