Provides L-5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), the precursor to serotonin, a key neurotransmitter.5-HTP is the intermediate metabolite of the essential amino acid L-tryptophan and the immediate final precursor in the biosynthesis of 5-hydroxytryptamine, which, along with dopamine and norepinephrine, are the three major monoaminergic neurotransmitters. Serotonin production is linked to insomnia (sleep disturbances), anxiety, nervousness, sugar cravings, appetite suppression, chronic and tension headaches, depression, low mood, fibromyalgia, obesity, and aggression.
Adults: 1 capsule, two (2) times daily as a dietary supplement or as directed by a healthcare professional.
Caution: Very high doses of 5-HTP can be metabolized peripherally and may trigger excessive serotonin production. 5-HTP is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women and should be avoided by those with any form of cardiovascular disease. 5-HTP should not be used by those taking serotonin 5-HTP or receptor agonists (naratriptan, sumatriptan, zolmitriptan).
