The powerful antioxidants selenium and zinc, along with myrrh gum resin (guggul), help neutralize free radicals that affect the enzyme iodothyronine-5'-monodeiodinase, which is involved in the conversion of T4 to the active hormone T3.
Iris species contain oleoresins in their roots and are historically believed to move fluids (lymph). Myrrh gum resin is a powerful adaptogen that supports not only the thyroid, but also the liver and kidneys. Studies suggest that Commiphora constituents may help increase iodine metabolism in the thyroid and T4-T3 conversion in peripheral tissues.
